IMPORTANT NOTICE of Change
to Your Credit Union Loan
Thank you for using Copper Basin Federal Credit Union as your lending source. Due to
new Federal Regulations, all financial institutions offering open end credit must make the following changes: For Copper Basin Federal Credit Union members, the actual due date of your open end loan is being updated. This new regulation does not affect any closed-end loan you have with the credit union (such as a mortgage loan).
For the Credit Union to remain in compliance with the new regulations, the actual due date(s) on your loan will be changed to the last day of each month. You do not need to sign any additional forms or contact the Credit Union for this change to take affect.
A reminder of your payment due date will be included on your monthly statement beginning with your August 31, 2009 statement. For you, there will be no change in how your payments are made or applied. If your loan(s) are on payroll deduction or automatic transfer (weekly, bi-weekly, semi-monthly or monthly), your payments will continue to be applied as always. If you make your loan payment on a specific date of the month, you may continue to do so.
Making the change in this manner will:
- Cause the least amount of disruption to you, our member, and
- Help the Credit Union to control expenses associated with changes caused by the new regulations, so that we may continue to offer competitive loan and savings rates.
Important Information for
Debit Card Holders
If you use your debit card at a gas pump, regularly an amount will be blocked -- often $75 or $100 -- on your card. That amount doesn't
"un-block" as you drive away. Instead, the hold remains up to 72 hours, until the station does a "batch" transaction that lets the credit union
know the actual amount.
Each big oil company has a different policy. The reasoning behind this policy is that oil companies don't know how much gas you're about to pump and so they earmark a certain amount of your money. While the length of the hold is up to the credit union, the amount of the hold is up to your gasoline retailer.

Enhanced Debit Card Program
We are very excited to inform you about enhancements to our debit card program. In order to better serve your financial needs, we have made several changes to the program. The new card has wonderful enhancements which we are sure you will love.- Real Time Transactions: Funds will be available on your card as soon as they are deposited. No more waiting until the next business day!
- Separate Debit Card Numbers for each card: If you have a joint account, the number on each card will now be different. This means if one of the joint owners loses their card, or has to have card replaced for some reason, both cards are NOT affected.
- Access to your Savings Account: Saving and checking balances will now be split balances. You will be able to make a withdrawal directly from savings at the ATM. Please note, if you need to make a purchase that would require money from your savings account, you will need to transfer the money from savings (via ATM, Online, Telephone, or Office) to your checking account before using the card.
- Verified By Visa: This feature is currently offered on our debit cards and will continue to be offered. Be sure and sign up your new card. The link is provided on our web site. Enrolling your card entitles you to chargeback rights that you might not have otherwise.
Please be sure and update any electronic withdrawals you may have to your new debit card number.
